The solar powered deluxe cabins have a private balcony that share the most sensational ocean views of the North East Coast. Each solar powered deluxe cabin is self-contained or we can supply a delicious woodfired pizza or a dish from our inhouse menu delivered fresh to your cabin.

We have a full liquor license and each deluxe cabin has a selection of premium Tasmanian and Banrock Station wines and also a fully stocked mini bar at very reasonable prices.

Cabins are timber lined and open plan, with a queen size bed, a double fold out futon, dining suite, colour LCD TV, radio and a potbelly stove. There is a generous size ensuite bathroom with quality Actil linen.

Cabins run on a 12-volt solar system with all the facilities you would expect.

As a Private Nature Reserve- the highest conservation listing possible according to Tasmanian government- the grounds of Rainbow Retreat are home to the remarkable Blind Velvet Worm and other endangered native wildlife species, including the Tasmanian Devil, the white Goshawk and the Wedge Tail Eagle. Guests of the retreat also have the opportunity to meet several hand-reared Wallabies, Possums, and "Walter the Wombat". Overlooking the north-east coast of Tasmania, Rainbow Retreat undoubtedly boasts the most spectacular ocean panorama in all of Tasmania, including views of the Strezlecki Ranges. The Bay Of Fires, voted the best beach in the world, is only a thirty-five minute drive away, and Wine Glass Bay, Freycinet National Park and the beautiful Douglas Apsley Park are also only thirty-five minutes away. Other beautiful beaches are a ten minute drive down, and guided fishing or walking tours of local areas can be arranged.
